Ben Franey, PhD student

PhD Student at the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences. I began a faculty-funded PhD in October 2025, following a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology from the University of Portsmouth (2025).

My research focuses on computational biology, combining molecular dynamics simulations, machine learning, and cheminformatics approaches.

Jerry Oluwasegun, MRes student

Jerry is an MRes student since Jan.  2025. His research interest is in the field of enhanced sampling simulations, including Steered Molecular Dynamics, Umbrella Sampling and others. He commands a broad range of knowledge of machine learning techniques too.

Elizabeth Oliphant, MRes student

Elizabeth is an MRes student since Sept. 2025. Her research interests are in enhancing the efficacy of precision medicine treatments in glioblastoma. Specifically, she is looking into the pharmacology of the P-glycoprotein efflux pump and its role in causing multidrug resistance towards chemotherapeutics. She uses both molecular dynamics and molecular docking to achieve this.

Charley Gregory, MRes student

Charley is an MRes enrolled in the 2024-2025 cohort.  She is interested in the therapeutic pathways of glioblastoma, in particular the HDAC/CoREST complex that is upregulated in glioblastoma.

Batool Ishak,
MRes student

Batool is an MRes starting in the 2026-2027 January cohort.
